Public hearings are an important part of the EIS/OEIS process. The Navy held four public hearings on Guam, a public hearing on Tinian, and a public hearing on Saipan to provide information on the Draft EIS/OEIS, answer questions and to receive comments from the public on the document. An open house took place during the first two hours of each hearing, followed by a two hour formal public hearing. Informational posters were displayed and Department of Defense subject matter experts were available during the open house portion of the hearing to answer questions on the Draft EIS/OEIS. Oral and/or written comments were submitted at the public hearings.
Oral comments given during the formal public hearing were limited to 3 minutes to allow everyone a reasonable opportunity to provide comments. Attendees whose comments lasted longer than 3 minutes were asked to provide written comments.
We would like to thank all of those who attended as well as submitted comments at the hearings. Your participation is very important and will be considered in the Final EIS.
