The Department of Navy would like to thank you for your participation in the Draft EIS public comment period. The 90-day public comment period ended on February 17th, 2010 at midnight EST. We appreciate all of those who submitted comments.
There were several means by which interested agencies, individuals, and groups were able to submit comments. Those unable to attend the public hearings were encouraged to provide written comments online or by mail.
All comments received during the DEIS review period were reviewed and considered in the Final EIS. Due to the complexity of the Draft EIS and a desire to ensure that all interested parties had the full opportunity to review the document, the comment period was extended to 90 days – twice the requirement under NEPA.
